On Transfer of Rights to IPOs
In February, 2010 the active work was continued for realization of tasks aimed at implementation of the state policy in the field of use of rights to industrial property objects (IPO) protected on the territory of Ukraine.

Performance in February, 2010
In February, 2010 State Department of Intellectual Property received 400 applications for inventions, 844 applications for utility models, 2489 applications for trademarks and service marks.

Total amount of registered documents of title made up 282080 as of 01.03.2010.

On Registration of Copyright to Work
In February, 2010 the Department received 459 applications for registration of copyright to work and 6 applications for registration of agreements concerning copyright to work. 393 registrations of copyright to work were effected and 1 decisions on registration of agreements concerning copyright to work were made.

Chairman of the DepartmentMykola Paladiy The State Department was established according to the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On Establishment of the State Department of Intellectual Property” No 601 of April 4, 2000 as state-run governmental body within the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. In accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine “On Organizational Changes in the Structure of Central Executive Authorities” No 1572 of December 15, 1999 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine issued the Resolution “On Approval of the Regulations on the State Department of Intellectual Property” No 997 of June 20, 2000 . In connection with the new organizational pattern of regulation in the field of intellectual property all previously issued documents had become invalid. The new order of the State Department and every subdivision thereof has been established by the Regulations on the State Department of Intellectual Property the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved by its Resolution of June 20, 2000 (hereinafter referred to as – “the Regulations”). When carrying out its activity the State Department is governed by the Constitution of Ukraine, Laws of Ukraine, Acts of the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Regulations as well as Orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. |

The State Institute of Intellectual Property was established in pursuance of the joint resolution of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Science and Education, and the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Industrial Policy of Ukraine "On Formation of the National System of Training, Retraining and Upgrading Professional Skills of Specialists in Intellectual Property Protection" of 1996.
The Institute enters into the state system of intellectual property protection. Its main goal is to provide training, retraining and upgrading professional skills of experts in the field of intellectual property as well as specialists of institutions, organizations and enterprises of any form of ownership.
